Leeds United have been linked with Ousseynou Cisse, with The Sun on Sunday’s Goals section (print edition, page 8, Sunday, May 27, 2018) claiming that the Championship want to sign the Milton Keynes Dons defensive midfielder in the summer transfer window (click here to read more).

Cisse joined MK Dons in the summer of 2017 and made 28 starts in League One this past season, according to WhoScored.

The Dons had a hugely disappointing campaign, as they got relegated to League Two.

MK Dons fans do not seem to rate the 27-year-old defensive midfielder, as reported on HITC Sport, but previous comments on Cisse from former MK Dons manager Robbie Neilson suggest that the Mali international does possess quality.

Neilson was in charge of MK Dons from December 2016 until January 2018 and signed Cisse for the club in the summer of 2017.

Sky Sports quoted Neilson as saying about Cisse in June 2017: “He’ll bring physicality and strength to the middle of the pitch.

“He can play centre midfield, defensive midfield and left-sided centre-half as well, so he gives us a lot of options.

“It will take him a little bit of time to get used to the hectic nature of British football because it’s 100 miles per hour but he’s got great physicality and a great left-foot.

“He’s also got great pedigree having played at good levels before in France, Spain and Belgium.”

While Leeds fans would be right to be sceptical about Cisse, given that he played in League One last season and MK Dons fans do not seem to rate him highly, but the aforementioned comments from Neilson should give them some encouragement.
