Leeds United are reportedly eyeing a bargain move for the Mali international this summer.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday’s Goals section (27/05; page 8), Leeds are amongst the host of clubs eyeing a bargain summer move for MK Dons midfielder Ousseynou Cisse.

The Whites will be hoping for a hugely impressive summer after watching their promotion push fall away in dramatic fashion over the final months of this past season. The fans will certainly be hoping that the mistakes made during Victor Orta’s first window as director of football are not repeated.

It is unlikely that the Elland Road faithful will be overjoyed with the reports coming from The Sun on Sunday today however, which suggest that a move for Cisse may be on the cards.

The Sun on Sunday’s Goals section (27/05; page 8) reports that the Whites are keen on the 27-year-old and are facing competition for his signature from Blackburn Rovers, Club Brugge and Augsburg.

The Sun on Sunday adds that he will be available for a minimal fee this summer after the Dons were relegated from League One. The Mali international made 32 league appearances for the side following his move from Tours last season.

Cisse may not be a signing that exactly captures the imagination of the Leeds fans hoping for additions that make a real statement, but he would add depth in two areas where the Whites looked vulnerable this past year. He predominantly played in holding midfield this past season, but can also be deployed as a centre-back.

Given his career record to date, it would appear that he would have a lot to prove if he wanted to win the Leeds fans over if he did sign for the club this summer.
