Neil Warnock has claimed that ‘Daniel Levy must be having nightmares’ because he isn’t the type to pay £50 million for a player amid rumours that Everton forward, Richarlison, is close to signing, as he told talkSPORT on Thursday morning.

The former Premier League manager added that Richarlison is a player that goes down to ground pretty ‘easy’, but he thinks that will ‘stop’ once he works with Antonio Conte.

Whether it’s £50 million or £60 million, it seems as though Spurs are paying a hefty fee for the Brazil international, who helped Everton survive relegation to the Championship last season.

If Richarlison does sign, then he will be the fourth new face to walk through the club’s doors this summer, after the arrivals of Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic and Yves Bissouma.

In truth, it still keeps Tottenham’s spending below £100 million because two of those signings were free-transfers, as Warnock shared his thoughts on Richarlison’s incoming move.

“What doesn’t make sense is that I can’t see Daniel Levy paying £50 million, if I am honest,” said Warnock. “He must be having nightmares in bed at night. He just doesn’t spend that money.

“He is obviously backing Conte and I am pleased because I have always liked Conte. I think he’s a good manager. He gets criticised for being defensive, but he wants to win.

“You take Harry and Son out of the team, then they don’t have much really up top, so I think he will do really well there. Also, it’s London and it’s a great stadium.

“Plus, Richarlison is a bit of a lad. He likes to put on a show. He’s theatrical. I have never seen anybody go down easy in my life. When you blow, Richarlison is down on the floor, isn’t he?! I think he will stop doing that now. I don’t think Conte will have it and that’s needed.”

RICHARLISON A GOOD SIGNING FOR TOTTENHAM?

At 25-years-old, Richarlison is ready to explode in his career, but just how far can he take his talents and is the £50 million+ being paid for him worth it?

Well, the Brazil international likes to play on the left or through the middle, and he’s not pushing ahead of either Heung-Min Son or Harry Kane anytime soon.

Therefore, it’s either out on the right, which would be out of position for the player, or as a back-up to the two main guys in the forward areas.

So, are Spurs effectively paying over £50 million for a player that will be sitting on the bench? If that’s the case, then it’s great depth for the north London club because they are going to need it ahead of their return to Champions League football.

But, with Richarlison hitting ten Premier League goals last season, six of which came during Everton’s last nine games, it tells you everything you need to know about the player because he steps up when it matters most.
