West Ham United manager David Moyes added the former England international left-back to his back-room team today.
Ex-Hammers hard-man Neil Ruddock was a guest on Alan Brazil’s Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT this morning, and insisted that Stuart Pearce’s appointment as assistant manager at West Ham is exactly what they players at the club need.
The east London outfit have endured an abysmal start to their 2017/18 Premier League campaign – one that culminated in Slaven Bilic’s sacking last week, and they currently sit precariously in 18th position in the Premier League table.
The Hammers are a team totally bereft of confidence, fight and passion, if their performances over the past few weeks are anything to go by, and David Moyes faces a tremendously difficult task ahead of him, if he is to guide his side away from trouble.
Ruddock though, believes that the Scot’s chances of doing just that have being greatly improved, when speaking live on Alan Brazil’s Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT this morning, following the appointment of Stuart Pearce as assistant manager at the football club:
“Pearce won’t have to say anything, he’ll just have to look at them. He’ll get on the pitch and kick them up the backside, I think that’s what they need.”

Moyes and Pearce’s first job in their new roles will be to galvanise the West Ham squad ahead of their trip to Watford on Sunday, and instil some confidence back into the side, with morale at the London Stadium currently at dangerously low levels.
