RB Leipzig ace Tyler Adams suddenly finds himself a wanted man, with Arsenal believed to be very keen on signing him.
Adams is part of a burgeoning crop of American talent, alongside the likes of Weston McKennie, Christian Pulisic, Giovanni Reyna and Sergino Dest.
Adams has played 66 games for Leipzig since his 2019 move, registering two goals and three assists, with a move to the Premier League now a real possibility.
Arsenal’s interest in Adams – and how they could miss out
The Athletic first reported Arsenal’s interest a matter of days ago, with CBS Sports adding that Adams has a release clause in his Leipzig deal.
That report noted that other Premier League clubs are keen on Adams too, and are actually better placed than Arsenal to win the race.
So just who else could be in for Adams? That’s unclear right now, but Liverpool would really make sense.
Why does Adams make sense for Liverpool?
Firstly, Adams has played for two of the Red Bull sides, New York and Leipzig. He’s spent time playing in a similar style to Liverpool, and the Reds have shown a willingness to shop for former Red Bull players like Sadio Mane, Naby Keita, Takumi Minamino and Ibrahima Konate.
Adams has been described as ‘relentless’, with his energy and work rate making him ideal for Klopp’s all-action approach to the game.
Additionally, Adams has versatility that should be appealing. If Liverpool need holding midfield cover for Fabinho, Adams can do it. If Liverpool need a box-to-box player after Gini Wijnaldum’s exit, Adams can do it.
Adams is even able to play as a right back, meaning he can offer additional cover behind Trent Alexander-Arnold whilst allowing the Reds to loan out Neco Williams for first-team football.
At just 22, Adams fits the Liverpool profile perfectly, and it would be little surprise if the Reds battled Arsenal for his signature.
