Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has suggested that he will not leave the club this summer, as quoted in El Intransigente.

The 24-year-old midfielder has said that he is focused on Arsenal and wants to get back to his best.

Torreira’s comments come just weeks after his agent, Pablo Bentancur, told TMW that he will speak to the Gunners about his future (click here to read more).

The Uruguay international midfielder’s agent added that the 24-year-old would love to return to Italy.

Football Ghana recently reported that Arsenal are considering selling Torreira this summer to raise funds to sign Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid.

El Intransigente has quoted Torreira as saying: “Today my intention and my head are at Arsenal.

“I want to recover, go back to 100%. I have a very long contract with the club, until 2023 and it was very difficult for me to get here.”

Arsenal stay?

Torreira has been on the books of Arsenal since 2018 and is an important player in the team.

While there have been occasions when the Uruguay international has struggled when played out of position, at his best, the former Pescara and Sampdoria midfielder is a force to be reckoned with.

According to WhoScored, the midfielder has made 15 starts and nine substitute appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal so far this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process.
