Well, as mentioned above, Chelsea handed Shakhtar Donetsk £88.5m for Mudryk.
Therefore, the Blues have paid £7.375m per goal.
That is an alarming figure when put like that, although Chelsea are quite clearly investing in Mudryk’s potential, rather than just the player he is right now.
At the age of 22, many expect the Ukrainian to become a European superstar within the next few years – if that does happen, Chelsea could even end up receiving a profit on their £88.5m investment.
For example, the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele have moved for £146m and £135.5m respectively in recent years, while Chelsea also lost Eden Hazard to Real Madrid in a deal worth £130m.
Therefore, while the fee for Mudryk might seem like a lot right now, it could turn out to be a fine bit of business from the west Londoners.
