Danny Murphy has said on Match of the Day on BBC One (11:25pm, August 20, 2022) that Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur will finish higher than Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the Premier League table this season.
The former Tottenham midfielder does not think that Arsenal have the same strength in depth than Spurs have.
Murphy made the comments while analysing Tottenham and Arsenal’s Premier League games on Saturday.
Tottenham won 1-0 against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, while Arsenal beat Bournemouth 3-0 away from home at the Vitality Stadium.
Arsenal are now at the top of the Premier League table with nine points from three matches, while Tottenham are second with seven points from three games.
Danny Murphy on Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur
When asked who will finish higher, Arsenal or Tottenham, Murphy said on Match of the Day on BBC One (11:25pm, August 20, 2022): “I think Tottenham because they have got strength in depth now. I think they can cope with injuries.
“They have started to create a squad that looks really strong, and you wouldn’t be as concerned as you would be in seasons gone by, if they lose Kane for a month. Arsenal, I don’t think, have that strength.”

Top-four battle
In our view, the race for the Premier League top four this season will go down to the wire.
Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are doing exceptionally well at the moment, and there is also Chelsea.
Perhaps even Manchester United will get their act together and launch a challenge for the UEFA Champions League places.
As we know, Liverpool and Manchester City are the two strongest teams in England.
