Mohamed Salah has issued a public statement following Egypt’s defeat earlier in the week against Argentina.

It looked as if Egypt were about to claim one of the true shock results of this summer’s World Cup after going two goals up against Argentina.

However, the current World Cup holders were able to show their quality and produced one of the most dramatic comebacks in history.

With just 12 minutes of regular time remaining on the clock, Lionel Messi and co were able to win the game 3-2.

Can anyone stop France winning this World Cup? If so, who? 🤨

France made light work of a pretty toothless Morocco without really looking at their best…

There will naturally have been a lot of disappointment back in Egypt, but there will also have been immense pride in the right their team showed.

Salah has now taken to social media to share a clear message to the Egypt fans following the defeat on Tuesday in Atlanta.

What Mohamed Salah said following Egypt’s World Cup elimination

Salah broke a World Cup record this summer despite the 34-year-old’s best playing days being behind him now.

Losing the game after leading by two goals in the 78th minute is a huge disappointment, with Salah taking to X to share his thoughts with the supporters.

“I know you’re still upset, but I promise you that I’ll do everything in my power to ensure this marks a fresh start for Egyptian football on the international stage,” said Salah.

“Qualifying for the World Cup won’t be enough, and just participating won’t cut it either. This team deserves your trust.”

Salah has recently left Liverpool and is on the lookout for his next opportunity.

At the age of 34, the Egyptian King will be 38 by the time the next World Cup rolls around.

A lot can happen in the space of four years, but it must be noted that both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have proven they can play beyond their years this summer.

Only time will tell whether Salah will be competing at the 2030 World Cup.
