Arsenal have invested in two major signings so far this summer but fans are still keen to see more additions before the transfer deadline.

The Gunners have come so close to winning the Premier League title in each of the last two seasons.

Mikel Arteta will be left wondering just what he needs to do in order to take down Manchester City.

Arteta sent a strong message to supporters after finishing second on the final day of last season; ‘we want much more than that and we’re going to get it.’

The Spaniard wants to finally get over the line and has struck two important deals this summer.

Goalkeeper David Raya is staying permanently after an impressive loan spell and Riccardo Calafiori has signed from Bologna.

Mo Farah on next Arsenal signing

Arsenal are still looking for more signings though and a midfielder has become a top priority.

Arteta wants to land fellow Spaniard Mikel Merino and HITC understands that the Spaniard has rejected a new contract with Real Sociedad.

Merino wants to join Arsenal and have another crack at Premier League football after a brief spell with Newcastle United in the 2017-18 season.

Fans may also want to see attacking additions arrive though and Arsenal have shown an interest in Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez.

Time is running out though as Alvarez is nearing a move to Atletico Madrid.

LiveScore have now asked Arsenal fan and athletics legend Mo Farah for one signing he wants to see before the transfer window closes.

Farah responded with his hope to see Arsenal sign a Euro 2024 winner – but not Merino.

Instead, Farah stated ‘Nico Williams to Arsenal’, urging the Gunners to go and raid Athletic Club for their star winger.

Boxer Billy Joe Saunders went with another Spain ace from Euro 2024, admitting that he wants Arsenal to sign Real Sociedad’s Mikel Oyarzabal – the man who scored the winner in the final.

Nico Williams state of play

We can understand why Farah and many other Arsenal fans are so keen to see Williams arrive this summer.

The speedy left winger was one of the players of the tournament at Euro 2024, causing mayhem for opposing full backs.

That kind of threat in the Arsenal side could really push Arteta’s men beyond City but a deal doesn’t seem likely.

HITC understands that Williams only wants to join Barcelona if he is to leave Athletic.

Barcelona may struggle to come up with the cash but Williams may be minded to stay in Bilbao this summer.

Arsenal will need to look elsewhere for a new attacking addition, unless Edu and Arteta can work some magic and tempt Williams after all.
