In a list of Arsenal‘s most important players, you could argue that Cedric Soares is quite far down.
After all, the Portugal international has only managed 27 minutes of Premier League football this season.
So when 90 Min [covered by HITC Sport] reported on Tuesday that Arsenal could sell the player to Fulham, well a lot of Gunners’ fans probably wouldn’t care too much.
But here’s one reason why they should.
Most of Arsenal’s full-back options aren’t built of strong stuff physically.
Takehiro Tomiyasu, Kieran Tierney and Oleksandr Zinchenko have all spent chunks of their careers in North London on the treatment table.

And selling someone who can play both left-back and right-back could well come back to haunt Arsenal.
Remember, Mikel Arteta’s side are going for the Premier League title.
Winning this competition is a squad game, meaning that winning it without depth in your squad is entirely unlikely.
And although Arsenal do have some depth in these positions, what good is it if the covering options are also injury prone?
The fact that Soares has played two Premier League games this season is evidence in itself that he could be needed during the second half of the campaign.
And really, there’s no major upside in selling him to the Cottagers, or anyone.
