Tottenham Hotspur reportedly wanted to sign Miralem Pjanic in the summer transfer window, but the Barcelona midfielder has joined Besiktas now.
Tottenham Hotspur interest
Sport reported in July that Tottenham were trying to take Pjanic to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs actually made a loan enquiry for the 31-year-old midfielder, according to the report.
However, Tottenham managing director of football, Fabio Paratici, could not be successful in his quest.
Besiktas transfer
Despite Tottenham’s interest, Pjanic has joined Turkish champions Besiktas, who will feature in the Champions League this season, as you can see from the tweet below.
Besiktas have announced on their official website that they have signed the midfielder on loan from Barcelona.
The Turkish giants will pay the 31-year-old a net annual salary of €2,750,000 (£2,359,657).
Tottenham missing out
Pjanic is a very good midfielder, and the 31-year-old would have been a smart signing for Spurs, especially on a loan deal.

Okay, the midfielder was not at hie best for Barcelona last season, but he did well at Juventus and knows Paratici from his time at the former Italian champions.
Pjanic would have added guile and experience to the current Tottenham midfield and would have made the North London club better in the middle of the park.
