Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to claims that PSG have rejected an £189 million bid from Real Madrid for Kylian Mbappe on transfer deadline day.
Sky Sports reported on Tuesday evening that Mbappe will be staying at PSG despite Madrid’s efforts in trying to sign the 22-year-old with hours left of the summer transfer window.
“The Kylian Mbappe deal to Real Madrid is totally off,” said Kaveh Solhekol. “I have just got off the phone to somebody in Paris who is working on the deal.
“This is incredible. Real Madrid were willing to pay more than 200 million Euros (£189m) today for Mbappe – basically what has happened is that PSG have stalled and haven’t got back to Real Madrid. And now Real Madrid have walked away.”
It now means that the PSG superstar can sign for a foreign club on a pre-contract agreement in January.
Now, of course, Liverpool supporters will be hoping it is them because they have had a long-standing interest in the forward.
But the Liverpool faithful have reacted to these claims about Mbappe today and how crazy it is that PSG have turned that sort of money down.
What needs to be remembered is that they aren’t rejecting such a huge bid for a player with years left on his deal, but one that could leave on a free next summer.
Then again, when you are owned by a state, you can do whatever you want.
And for all those neutrals, they can now watch Mbappe-Neymar-Messi completely rip teams to shreds in Ligue 1.
It seems as though Madrid will still be the Frenchman’s destination either in January or next summer.
But, of course, those on Merseyside will always dream if the unthinkable can happen.
