Luis Diaz put on a show as Liverpool travelled south to face Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, thrilling some Reds fans reacting on social media.
The Colombian has slotted in seamlessly to the Reds frontline since his winter arrival from Porto in a £37.5m transfer. Boss Jurgen Klopp has started Diaz in five of six possible league fixtures so far. He has also featured in five cup ties, with his only break coming at Burnley.
Klopp’s decision to leave Diaz on the Turf Moor bench proved wise as he bounced back the next week. The 31-cap international marked his second English top-flight appearance with a goal at Anfield against Norwich City. And he struck his first away from home at Brighton.

Diaz broke the deadlock at the Amex Stadium with a brave run to beat Robert Sanchez to Joel Matip’s pass. The centre-half had played an inviting ball into the Seagulls area for the 25-year-old to meet. But after Diaz sent the ball goal-bound, Sanchez clattered through.
VAR Stuart Attwell reviewed the incident but decided against advising Mike Dean to show a red card. Diaz was also able to continue after receiving treatment following the collision.

Some Liverpool fans took to social media to praise Diaz for his performance throughout the Reds’ trip to Brighton. He delighted many supporters with his goal, but also his drive to impact proceedings after notching his second strike in the Premier League in five outings.

A few also reflected on Liverpool securing Diaz’s transfer from Porto against interest from Tottenham in January. According to The Athletic, Spurs had even signed an agreement for his arrival in north London for £37.5m plus £12.5m in add-ons, along with personal terms.
