The Sunderland midfielder is reportedly being monitored by north east rivals Middlesbrough.

Middlesbrough fans are reacting on Twitter to a report crediting them with interest in Sunderland’s Paddy McNair.
According to the Daily Mirror (Tuesday liveblog entry 14:49) Middlesbrough are monitoring McNair should he fail to secure a move to the Premier League – although the newspaper adds that Brighton are planning a fresh bid of £5 million for the player, having already failed with a £3.5 million offer.
And McNair appears destined to leave Sunderland – be it for Brighton or elsewhere – after the Mackems’ relegation to League One.

But would the Boro faithful welcome him to Teesside? This is what they are saying…
However, not all of them are quite so keen…
And one Sunderland fan has a better idea in mind…
A move to Middlesbrough could appeal to McNair, given the Teessiders’ geographical location to Sunderland, where he has spent the past two campaigns since signing from Manchester United.
Would McNair be a good signing for Middlesbrough?
