Middlesbrough, Sheffield United, West Bromwich Albion and Blackburn Rovers have all been linked with the Queens Park Rangers star.
A quartet of Championship clubs, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United, West Bromwich Albion and Blackburn Rovers appear to have been dealt a January transfer blow by Queens Park Rangers.
All four were credited with interest in QPR’s Luke Freeman in the summer window – with Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Blackburn each said to have made contact with the R’s (Sky Sports and the Daily Mirror) – however, the attacking midfielder has has since signed up until 2021 at Loftus Road.
Boro were again linked with a move for Freeman less than a fortnight ago, while United are braced for Ben Woodburn’s return to Liverpool, and it is the Yorkshire who are arguably the biggest losers from Freeman’s decision.
In contrast, neither Blackburn nor West Brom are short of options behind the strikers, although that could change depending on the futures of Bradley Dack – the Rovers playmaker who is also said to interest the Baggies – and Harvey Barnes – the Hawthorns loan star for whom a January return to Leicester City has been mooted.
Freeman has scored two goals and set up one for QPR in this season’s Championship, helping Steve McClaren’s side – who sit a point and two places above Blackburn – keep pace with Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and West Brom.
