Speaking on BT Sport’s coverage of the Champions League draw, Michael Owen has been discussing reported Liverpool target Arnaut Danjuma after Villarreal drew Manchester City.
Villarreal may have drawn City, but that tie won’t be going ahead after the redraw was ordered due to a technical error in the initial draw.
City may see this as something of a lucky escape. They’ve drawn Sporting and that means they won’t have to face the reigning Europa League champions and their star winger Danjuma.
Owen is seemingly a big fan of the Dutchman, highlighting him as a threat.
What’s been said about Danjuma?
Owen was full of praise for the former Bournemouth man.
“We mentioned the game at Old Trafford earlier in the season and he was absolutely exceptional. He plays on that left side and he’s very direct, he can beat players, he can score goals and he comes in and he’s an attacking player and you know, he gave that Manchester United defence a real scare,” Owen said.
“We’ve seen him in English football, probably not enough, but you have to take your cap off to him for going away to play on a big stage, because, I think he still sees himself coming back as a more finished article, but he’s done a lot to impress a lot of people this season.”

Back to England
Owen says that Danjuma has unfinished business in England, and we’re inclined to agree.
The winger was relegated during his only Premier League season with Bournemouth, and he’s clearly got the talent to play for a top side. After all, he’s been shining in the Champions League so far.
He’ll be desperate to prove himself back in England and he may get that chance soon if the reports of Liverpool’s interest are accurate.
One thing is for sure, if Danjuma is to join Liverpool, Owen would be in favour of such a move.
