Liverpool are big fans of Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma and will scout a man dubbed ‘Sadio Mane’s replacement’ during tonight’s Champions League clash with Manchester United, as reported by Voetbal International.
This isn’t the first time Danjuma has been linked with a big-money move to Anfield.
Almost two months ago, Spanish publication Marca claimed the Netherlands international had emerged as a surprise transfer target for Jurgen Klopp’s ravenous Reds. However, Danjuma put the finishing touches on a £21 million move to the Castellon coast a few days later.
At the time, reports suggesting Liverpool were looking to sign an attacker from the second tier raised eyebrows on the red side of Stanley Park.
These days, however, Danjuma is strutting his stuff in the Champions League rather than the Championship.
And, after scoring against Atletico Madrid and Atalanta before giving Real Madrid a migraine at the Bernabeu, the former Bournemouth talisman is proving he’s made for the biggest stages.
Liverpool scouts will watch Villarreal ace Arnaut Danjuma at Old Trafford tonight
According to Voetbal International, Liverpool see Danjuma as capable of stepping into Sadio Mane’s size eight shoes.
A modern-day Liverpool legend turns 30 in April and, with less than two years remaining on his contract, it’s difficult to overlook the fact he has fallen short of his impeccable standards during the past 18 months or so.

Perhaps Danjuma is viewed in the same way as Diogo Jota at Anfield – a hungry, up-and-coming talent capable of competing with and eventually replacing one of Klopp’s longest-serving stars, in the way Jota has superseded Roberto Firmino in a star-studded front line?
The report adds Liverpool will send a scout down the M62 tonight as Manchester United host Europa League adversaries Villarreal in front of an expectant Old Trafford crowd.
Even more motivation for Danjuma to perform, then, on his return to British soil. Not that he’ll need it.
