Michael Owen has praised Leeds United and Aston Villa on Twitter, and has said that they are “brilliant to watch”.
The former Liverpool and Manchester United striker made the comments following Leeds’s 2-0 win against Crystal Palace at Elland Road in the Premier League on Monday evening.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have been playing well this season, and they were brilliant against Palace at home.
Successful season for Leeds United and Aston Villa
Villa narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season, while Leeds clinched promotion from the Championship.
Not many would have expected the Villans and the Whites to challenge for the European places, but they are doing just that at the moment.
Leeds are 10th in the Premier League table with 32 points from 22 matches, eight points behind fourth-placed Liverpool, who have played 23 games.
As for Villa, Dean Smith’s side currently find themselves three points and a place above Leeds, having played 21 games.
While it may have looked unlikely at the start of the season, there is a possibility that both Leeds and Villa could end up in the European places.
