Michael Dawson told Sky Sports News (29/06/21 at 9:25 am) that he got an ‘awful lot of criticism’ for wanting Scott Parker as Tottenham’s new manager.
That won’t be happening now because the former Tottenham midfielder, 40, has taken the reigns at Bournemouth after leaving Fulham – and Nuno has just been handed the keys to the North London club.
But after over two months of searching for a new manager, Daniel Levy, and the new Sporting Director, Fabio Paratici, have finally landed their man.
Well, he probably wasn’t their man to start with because they seemed to go through the whole of Italy, and parts of Europe before opting to bring Nuno in.
Nonetheless, ex-Spurs man, Dawson, expressed his shock at how long Tottenham have taken to bring in a new face, as he made his claim about Parker.
“I am really surprised (at Tottenham’s manager search),” said Dawson. “The size of the football club.
“I really wanted to see Scott Parker and I got an awful lot of criticism for this. I really did. He’s gone to Bournemouth now, so that’s not going to happen.
“Martinez, I am a big fan of him. But Nuno if he went in.”

From one Portuguese to another, it’s going to be interesting to see what is going to be made of Nuno’s style of play because Jose Mourinho is his former coach, mentor and coaching inspiration.
And a lot of that will depend on one man and whether he stays put this summer or not.
Not only are Spurs at risk of losing Harry Kane, but this is an ageing and declining squad that needs refreshing.
So, the other question that has to be asked is will Daniel Levy put a significant amount of money on the table for Nuno to revamp this previously struggling team?
If he doesn’t then it wouldn’t be a surprise if Spurs head for another campaign of struggle.
