Michael Beale has told Friday’s press conference – as per the club’s YouTube – that Rangers are close to “one or two things” in the January window, when asked if the Ibrox club are close to completing a move for Todd Cantwell.
Cantwell, 24, has been strongly linked with a move for the Norwich City star. A player that sparkled in the Premier League with Norwich, but after returning to the Championship, has failed to rediscover that impressive level of form.
His contract is set to expire at the end of the season at Norwich. This season, he has featured 19 times for Norwich but failed to score or lay on an assist. Clearly, Cantwell is capable of better and perhaps, just waiting for a move.
He has been strongly linked with the Gers. Reports emerged earlier this week that a breakthrough in talks has got a deal over the line for Cantwell moving to Rangers. Beale was asked if Cantwell was close to becoming a Gers player.

“No comment on the transfers today, we spoke a lot in the week. As soon as anyone is signed and sealed, yous will be first to know. We’re very close to one or two bits. But I don’t want to elaborate on what I said the other day.”
Beale says Rangers close to one or two when asked about Cantwell
Cantwell would be a wonderful signing for Rangers. Not just because he is able to play on either flank, or as a 10. But that he is still a young player that can improve. And, also a player that has proven he is Premier League quality.
It is unclear how much Cantwell will cost but given his contract situation, and that Norwich are keen to sell, it is likely that it will be a small-ish fee. A whole lot less than the kind of figure touted when shining in the Premier League.
