Michael Beale has told Tuesday’s press conference – as posted on Rangers’ YouTube – that he is very happy with the way Rangers are progressing in the window, when asked if the Ibrox club are any closer to signing Todd Cantwell.
Cantwell, 24, is struggling at Norwich. Having starred for the Canaries in the Premier League, he has struggled to show that form since relegation. This season, he has been used 19 times – but failed to score a single goal, or create them.
Transfer expert Alex Crook has told TalkSPORT (Tuesday, 12.40PM) that talks between Rangers and Norwich midfielder Cantwell are “ongoing”. Murmurs of interest from PSV Eindhoven have emerged, but Crook says Cantwell wants Ibrox.
Rangers boss Beale was asked about a move for Cantwell in his latest press conference, with talks ongoing. Beale said that he is happy with the way the club are progressing in talks – but made it clear, not specifically about Cantwell.
“There’s no update right now, but I’m really pleased with the way things are moving – no news doesn’t mean bad news. Everyone is on the same line, everyone is moving in the right direction,” Beale said when asked about Cantwell.
“That is not specifically talking about that player [Cantwell], but that’s just talking in general. We’re moving in the right direction towards it,” Beale told his press conference on Tuesday afternoon, ahead of Wednesday’s clash at Rugby Park.

Rangers are still yet to make a signing. Beale also commented on a move for Swansea attacker Morgan Whittaker – making it clear that Rangers are not going to be signing Everton midfielder Tom Davies. Others have also been linked.
Cantwell is out of contract at the end of the season. It looks as if he will be on the move this month, with Norwich likely to want to sell in order to bring in a fee for his signature. His comment “no news doesn’t mean bad news” is promising.
