Former Everton ace Michael Ball has hailed Ademola Lookman and Morgan Schneiderlin.

Former Everton ace Michael Ball has told the Liverpool Echo that he has been impressed by new signings Ademola Lookman and Morgan Schneiderlin.

The Toffees were expected to be busy during the January transfer window, but Ademola Lookman and Morgan Schneiderlin were the only players arriving to boost their first team, with Anton Donkor also joining the club’s under-23 side on loan from Wolfsburg.

Lookman made an instant impact for Everton, with the 19-year-old attacker scoring on his debut against Manchester City following a move from League One side Charlton Athletic.

The attacker, who can play up front or out wide, started for Everton in Saturday’s 6-3 home win over Bournemouth, and produced a promising display in his first Premier League start.

Midfielder Schneiderlin was Everton’s big-money signing of the January transfer window, with the French midfielder arriving from Manchester United in a deal allegedly worth £22million from BBC Sport.

The Frenchman, 27, worked with Everton boss Ronald Koeman at Southampton, and having been frozen out at Manchester United, Schneiderlin moved to reunite with Koeman at Goodison Park.

Schneiderlin is having to compete with the likes of Tom Davies, Idrissa Gueye, James McCarthy and Gareth Barry for a spot in the Everton midfield, but he has now started the last two games for Everton and looks to be cementing himself in Koeman’s midfield.

After their displays in the 6-3 win over Bournemouth, former Everton left back Michael Ball has told the Liverpool Echo that he has been impressed with Lookman and Schneiderlin as the new signings settle in at Goodison Park.

“I like the look of Ademola Lookman very much. Nothing fazes him and he is learning when and where to do things,” said Ball. “He gets the crowd on his feet every time he touches the ball.”

“Morgan Schneiderlin also really impressed me, especially off the ball with his organising, shouting and getting in the referees’ ear. He brought something which was missing and he and Gareth Barry complemented each other really well, especially on the ball with their little triangles,” he added.
