‘Meeting this week’: Fabrizio Romano shares interesting Tottenham transfer update

Speaking on the Que Golazo Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Tottenham Hotspur and their summer transfer plans.

Spurs just clinched a spot in next season’s Champions League, and a top-four finish has given the north London club a fantastic platform to build on this summer.

Antonio Conte, as you can imagine, wants to be ambitious this summer, and according to Romano, the manager will meet with Fabio Paratici and Daniel Levy this week to discuss summer transfer plans.

We’re not sure exactly what those plans will be, but according to Romano, Conte wants as many as six players signed in the upcoming transfer window.

Romano spoke about Conte and his plans.

“He always wants to make sure the future is guaranteed and that the club will back him. They will have a meeting this week with Antonio Conte, Fabio Paratici and Daniel Levy, and once that’s done, we’ll know who are the targets, who the players are they will try to sign. They need to discuss the number of players they want to sign and the budget, so many things to do. But if Conte will stay it’s because they will sign important players, he wants many players, five or six signings to continue and to be competitive next season,” Romano said.

Rebuild

Six signings in the summer window wouldn’t just represent ambition from Spurs, it would represent a commitment to a complete rebuild under Conte.

Six players could completely transform Tottenham from being perennial top-four contenders to genuine title challengers, but, of course, it depends on how much Tottenham are willing to spend and who these players are.

However, with Fabio Paratici at the helm, Spurs should be able to get this window right, and if Conte is backed financially, then Tottenham could be challenging for top honours next season.
