Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are reportedly about to miss out on the signing of Villarreal defender Pau Torres to Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur target Pau Torres will soon undergo a medical with Aston Villa and will complete his move to the Villans in the summer transfer window.

Romano has claimed that Villa will pay around €35 million (£30.12 million) plus add-ons for the Spain international central defender.

This will come as a blow for Liverpool and Tottenham.

Earlier this week, The Daily Mail reported that Tottenham, Liverpool and Bayern Munich admire the 26-year-old Villarreal centre-back.

Liverpool should continue to keep tabs

Just because Pau Torres is about to join Aston Villa does not mean that Liverpool should end their interest in the defender.

After all, Torres is only 26 now.

Although Villa are a big club, Liverpool are bigger and are a global brand.

We believe that in two years’ time, the Reds could be able to sign Torres from Villa if they paid a good transfer fee for the Spain international.

Liverpool should keep monitoring Torres and see how he does for Villa in the Premier League.
