Ally McCoist has suggested Harry Kane to leave Tottenham Hotspur in favour of a summer switch to Manchester United.

The Athletic had recently reported that the 29-year-old was open to the prospect of signing a brand-new contract extension with Spurs.

Many were surprised by this revelation, considering the need for the £200,000-a-week marksman to win silverware, as there are no question marks over his class and longevity at this point in his career.

Ally McCoist seems to subscribe to this very school of thought, as he has urged Harry Kane to put pen to paper for Manchester United.

Interestingly, the Independent’s Miguel Delaney had only recently stated that the England captain was open to the idea of joining Erik ten Hag’s side next season.

Furthermore, the Daily Mail had even claimed that rather surprisingly, even Daniel Levy was willing to let the prolific striker head to the Red Devils.

However, the report that mentioned that the player himself is open to prolonging his stay at Hotspur Way does emerge as a slight shock.

Now, one of the most vocal pundits in the game has advised Kane to do otherwise.

Ally McCoist has urged Harry Kane to join Erik ten Hag’s improving Manchester United side instead of continuing his love affair with Tottenham.

“Spurs fans will hate me saying it, it might now be the time [for Harry Kane] to go to Manchester United, because the way things are looking right now, you’d have to say that Manchester United look as though they’re progressing better than Spurs are at this moment in time”, he told talkSPORT.

Regardless of whether one agrees with Manchester United as the ideal next destination for Harry Kane, Ally McCoist is right in suggesting him to depart Tottenham, as a player of his calibre deserves to lift trophies and that too, on a season-by-season basis.
