Aston Villa defender Matty Cash posted on Twitter ‘unbelievable’ after Nottingham Forest returned to the Premier League after beating Huddersfield in the Championship play-off final at Wembley.
After over two decades in England’s lower leagues, one of the giants of English football will now return to the promised land once more.
Forest beat Huddersfield 1-0 in normal time at Wembley, as Steve Cooper transformed a relegation-threatened side at the start of the season to the Premier League.
Back in September, Forest were sitting bottom of the Championship table under Chris Hughton, before Cooper was appointed and transformed the two-time European champions.
Now Forest are in the Premier League, it will also mean a reunion with one of their former players in Villa defender Cash and he had this message regarding their promotion.
REMARKABLE STEVE COOPER DESERVES HUGE CREDIT
That’s some swap, Burnley getting relegated and being replaced by a team like Forest.
Leeds’ return to the big time has brought more life to the Premier League and so will Forest’s promotion.
A lot of credit has to go to the man in the dugout because Cooper has proven his worth beyond any Forest supporter could have imagined.
It also needs to be remembered that it comes after Cooper himself lost the Championship play-off final to Brentford last season whilst Swansea City boss.
