Roy Keane labelled Burnley’s call to sack Sean Dyche as ‘crazy’, after Leeds United’s win played a part in their relegation to the Championship, as he told Sky Sports.

On the final day of the season, Burnley needed to win, or just better and match Leeds’ result and their Premier League safety was secured.

But, Newcastle United, and Callum Wilson in particular, turned it on by going 2-0 up at Turf Moor.

Meanwhile, Leeds were doing their job at Brentford, only to be pegged back in the second half.

Whilst Mike Jackson’s side pulled a call back through Maxwel Cornet, they couldn’t get another, as Jack Harrison went on to score a winner at Brentford for the Yorkshire side.

All in all, the call to sack Dyche hasn’t paid off, as Keane hit out at the club for that call which has now cost them.

“Who said it was a good decision to get rid of Sean Dyche at Burnley?” asked Keane. “Crazy. He did okay (Mike Jackson).

“But Sean Dyche would have done a good job if he was given an opportunity until the end of the season. He has been there and done it.

“When he left, it was like ‘oh there has been a reaction and a reset’. Rubbish.

“They have paid a heavy price for it. Proven manager. Great quality and has done a brilliant job. No sympathy for Burnley.”

Whilst Leeds sacked Marcelo Bielsa, it was perhaps a bigger surprise when Dyche was shown the exit door at Burnley.

In the end, for the Whites, the call to bring in Jesse Marsch has paid off because they are still a Premier League club.

But, whilst Leeds were leaking goals for fun, Burnley were the ones who had the experienced coach in Dyche and the one who had a proven record in keeping teams up.

Nonetheless, those in Leeds colours won’t care one jot because they are still a Premier League club, whilst the Clarets have dropped down to the Championship.
