Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino was spotted at Vicarage Road this week as Watford beat Chelsea 4-1.

Spurs have subsequently been linked with a summer transfer move for Abdoulaye Doucoure [report The Mail], who has been absolutely terrific this season.

The central midfielder has become a big asset for Watford and is a regular starter.

He compares very favourably with Tottenham’s key men, and is very much a complete midfielder.

From an attacking perspective, Doucoure has matched Spurs attacker Christian Eriksen for goals, with just one fewer than Heung-Min Son and two more than Dele Alli.

But it is defensively where Doucoure really comes into his own.

He has made more ball recoveries, more tackles and more interceptions than any Tottenham Hotspur midfielder this season.

Tottenham’s team has been rotated more than Watford’s allowing Doucoure to rack up more minutes and along with it statistics, but that should not detract from his excellent performances.

If anything it should be encouraging that he can handle a demanding season if Tottenham bring him in.

HITC Sport first wrote in November that Doucoure was looking like an ideal long term replacement for Mousa Dembele at Tottenham, and his performances have kicked on even more since.

There is a lot more to come from the 25-year-old and Tottenham should be prepared to pay big to ensure his future lies with them.
