Tottenham Hotspur have in recent days been linked with a swoop on Watford for winger Richarlison, with The Mirror first reporting their interest.

The Brazilian would be an excellent addition for Spurs, but his Hornets teammate Abdoulaye Doucoure is a player they arguably need every bit as much.

Doucoure has been tremendous this season, playing a major role in the impressive form of Marco Silva’s side.

Against West Ham he was excellent, making 103 touches and completing 93 per cent of his passes.

This season the Mali midfielder has netted four goals in 12 games for the Hornets.

At just 24, he is demonstrating he is a complete midfielder, and a bargain considering Watford signed him for just £8 million 18 months ago.

He is an ideal replacement for Spurs midfielder Mousa Dembele, who has looked past his best this season.

Dembele has struggled with a foot injury and was poor against Arsenal. At age 30, it is time Spurs start considering his replacement.

Doucoure is the perfect fit, and Tottenham should consider him a priority next summer if he keeps up his impressive form.
