Fabrizio Romano has said on The Arsenal Lounge that Arsenal still want to bring Martin Odegaard back to the Emirates Stadium.

What’s the story?

Odegaard spent the second half of last season on loan at Arsenal from Real Madrid.

The 22-year-old did relatively well for the Gunners and formed a good partnership with Emile Smith Rowe in attacking midfield.

The Norway international scored one goal and gave two assists in nine Premier League starts and gave one assist in five Europa League starts for Mikel Arteta’s side.

What Fabrizio Romano says

Well-known and well-respected journalist Romano has said that Arsenal are ready to make a move for Odegaard if there is any possibility that the youngster could leave Madrid this summer.

Romano said on The Arsenal Lounge: “I think Odegaard will stay at Real Madrid, but if things will change, Arsenal want to be ready to jump at the deal. If Odegaard will have also 1% chance of leaving Real Madrid this summer, Arsenal will be there because they love the player.”

Could an Arsenal transfer happen?

Odegaard recently posted an emotional message to Arsenal on Instagram in which he made it pretty clear that it is a goodbye.

The Norwegian has also publicly said that Madrid will decide his future.

Now, Carlo Ancelotti has gone back to the Spanish and European giants as the new manager.

The Italian tactician could decide to keep the Norwegian in his team.

After all, Odegaard is only 22, and Madrid will not want to let go of such a talented player.

Of course, anything is possible when the window is open, but, as things stand, it is unlikely that Madrid will make Odegaard available for transfer.
