Marco Silva’s Everton side beat Watford 1-0 yesterday to continue their unbeaten start to the campaign.

Marco Silva has surprisingly suggested that he almost brought Everton striker Cenk Tosun off the bench during their match against Watford yesterday.

Tosun’s time at Everton appears to be coming to an end, with the Toffees looking to sell him, as reported by the The Sun on Sunday (11/8, page 59).

However, the Turkish striker was named on Everton’s bench for their match against Watford.

And Silva has claimed that he is still considering using Tosun as an option for his side, although he opted to use Moise Kean ahead of him yesterday.

“I have to put a fresher player in the attack line and I had solutions on the bench – him and Cenk Tosun,” Silva said.

“At that moment the game was a little bit broken and we are not controlling the game. If the game was a little bit different my decision may have gone to Cenk Tosun.”

Whether Silva’s comments suggest that Tosun could yet be kept at Goodison Park for the season remains to be seen.

if Tosun does stay with the Toffees then he has much work to do to earn game time.

Tosun is behind both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Kean in the pecking order for places up-front.

Everton are still looking for their first goal from a striker this term, although they have looked very strong at the back so far.
