Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has praised Patrick Bamford for the way he played against Fulham on Friday evening, as quoted in Leeds Live.

Bamford scored a goal and provided an assist, as Leeds got the better of Fulham 2-1 away from home at Craven Cottage in London.

However, the 27-year-old striker was struggling during his time on the pitch and was substituted in the 77th minute.

After the Premier League game, the former Nottingham Forest and Chelsea striker admitted that he was struggling, and Bielsa has praised his commitment.

Bielsa told Leeds Live about Bamford: “He made a very big effort. And I saw him play a very valiant game. I saw him play well, generous apart from that. He also helped facilitate his team-mates having chances and I saw him play in a very valiant manner.”

Time to rest

Bamford is the main striker at Leeds and is a big player for the West Yorkshire club.

The Englishman has scored 14 goals and provided six assists in 29 Premier League games for Leeds so far this season, according to WhoScored.

With Bamford not called up to the latest England squad, the striker can now rest so that he is back to full fitness when Premier League action resumes next month.

Leeds are not going to get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season, and there is still a chance that they could finish in the European places in the Premier League table.
