Speaking on Everton’s official YouTube channel, Marcel Brands has said that he wants to see Anthony Gordon develop into a first team star at Everton.
The Toffees’ Director of Football was taking part in a fun Q&A session where some of Everton’s academy kids were allowed to ask him and Dominic Calvert-Lewin a range of questions.
Brands was asked who his favourite Everton player is, and while he refused to name his favourite, he made it clear that one man he really likes is Anthony Gordon.
“I’m really happy with the development of Anthony Gordon, he’s a young player from the academy, so I hope he will be the next one to be a real starter in the near future, so I’m really hopeful for that, so I will really support that.”

We’ve already seen what Gordon can do for Everton as he’s played 12 games for the first-team.
Fans have raved about him in the past, but these comments underline just how highly he’s rated at the club.
The 19-year-old has played just once in the league this term, but if Brands is right, he will be getting more chances in the near future.
Having the backing of the Director of Football is massive for Gordon, and it certainly bodes well for his career at Goodison Park.
Gordon must be buzzing to hear that the club are keen to give Brands a new contract as it seems as though he really rates him.
It seems that as long as Brands is making the decisions, Gordon’s needs will be catered for.
Hopefully, Carlo Ancelotti starts to hand him more chances in the coming weeks.
