Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur could face competition from Jose Mourinho for £17 million Udinese starlet Destiny Udogie with the wing-back’s agent confirming Roma’s interest, speaking to New Sound Level Radio.

On Thursday morning, Atletico Madrid confirmed the signing of Nahuel Molina. Another Udinese ace, former Everton and Watford winger Gerard Deulofeu, is also closing in on a £15 million move to Napoli.

So La Zebrette are under no real pressure to cash in on Udogie, with around £40 million arriving via the sale of two other first-team stars. Not that they were planning let the teenager go this summer anyway.

Udinese director Pierpaolo Marino admits that the Serie A outfit plan to hang onto the Italy U21 international. He arrived just one year top-flight rivals Hellas Verona (Fabrizio Romano).

So while interest is hardly in short supply – Sky Sports say Spurs chief Fabio Paratici held talks with the Udine bosses in London earlier this summer – it seems the likes of Tottenham, Lazio and Roma will have little choice but to place Udogie on the backburner for the time being.

“Udogie interests everyone,” says the 19-year-old’s representative, Stefano Antonelli (via LazioNews24). “There is not only Serie A (clubs in the race),”

“It is normal for many teams to like such a player; Lazio, Roma, everyone. However, there is not only Serie A.”

An attack-minded left-wing back perfectly suited to Antonio Conte’s five-man backline, Udogie capped his breakthrough campaign with an impressive eight goals and assists from a so-called ‘defensive’ role.

Tottenham look well covered on the left-hand side for the time being, however. The evergreen Ivan Perisic has joined Ryan Sessegnon in North London. Sergio Reguilon is up for sale, though, after being left out of the pre-season trip to Asia.

According to reports, Reguilon has been offered to Inter Milan.

The 2021 Serie A champions are fans of Udogie too, as Simone Inzaghi looks to add more competition on the left-hand flank.
