Manchester United and Tottenham have now made contact to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.

According to Foot Mercato in France, the Red Devils and Spurs have sent enquiries to the south Londoners about a deal for the England international.

Interestingly, it sounds as if Crystal Palace are happy to sell Marc Guehi.

What’s the story?

Well – according to The Athletic – Crystal Palace need to make one major sale soon in order to balance their finances, after spending a lot of signings without overseeing any significant departures.

That appears to be true, as Foot Mercato believe Crystal Palace are not against parting with Guehi as Manchester United and Tottenham circle.

The £50,192-a-week man has been exceptional for the Eagles since his £18m move from Chelsea in July 2021.

Guehi has earned three caps for England during his time at Selhurst Park, while also wearing the armband for Crystal Palace on many occasions with club captain Luka Milivojevic struggling to make the starting XI.

Foot Mercato add that there is also strong interest in Michael Olise from several clubs, although the France Under-21 international is happy in SE25 and will not push for a move.

Manchester United & Tottenham face huge Guehi asking price

In our view, Crystal Palace are well within their rights to demand a sum in the region of £60m or even £70m for Guehi – who is also wanted by Arsenal.

The Abidjan-born defender is contracted to Crystal Palace until June 2026, so their negotiating position is a strong one.

Guehi is also just 22, so his ceiling for improvement is vast. The England caps, and also the fact he often captains Crystal Palace, just adds to his value.

The likes of Wesley Fofana moved to Chelsea for £70m while Harry Maguire famously joined Manchester United for £80m – therefore, Crystal Palace are entitled to ask for at least £60m.
