Arsenal are now considering a bid to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace amid doubts over the fitness of William Saliba.
The Gunners have shortlisted the England international as the Frenchman finds himself sidelined with a serious back injury, while Rob Holding also has just 12 months remaining on his contract.
Therefore, Mikel Arteta wants backup options, and Guehi has emerged as a potential signing.
What’s the story?
Well – according to the Daily Mail – Arsenal are now considering a bid to sign Guehi from Crystal Palace.
The England international – who cost Crystal Palace £18m when they signed him from Chelsea back in July 2021 – has become a standout defender in the Premier League since moving to Selhurst Park.
Guehi has racked up 69 Premier League appearances so far, while also winning three England caps for his outstanding efforts.

The Daily Mail believe Crystal Palace would demand a considerably higher sum than the £18m they initially invested in the 22-year-old’s signature.
It is also said that Guehi – who has captained Crystal Palace on eight occasions in the Premier League this season – finds himself on Tottenham’s wishlist this summer.
Arsenal may have to spend big on Guehi
If Arteta really does want Guehi at the Emirates Stadium, the Spaniard may have to spend most of his budget on getting a deal over the line.
The Crystal Palace No.6 still has three years remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park, with the Daily Mail adding that the Eagles are under no pressure to sell.
Therefore – when you take into account Manchester United’s £80m signing of Harry Maguire and Chelsea’s £70m capture of Wesley Fofana – the south Londoners are well within their rights to ask for at least £60m.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Arteta aims to strengthen his centre-back department.
