Benfica losses could fast-track Manuel Ugarte deal
According to Record, Benfica chiefs are aware that they are set to face significant losses from the recent financial accounting period.
The report states that losses of up to £42million (50million Euros) are expected which would force Benfica to sell assets this summer.
One player which Benfica could look to sell is Joao Neves, who has attracted interest from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.
As revealed by HITC, PSG are in pole position to sign Neves this summer but United are ready to take advantage of that sale to sign Ugarte.
Ugarte has struggled to settle with the French giants and PSG signing Neves would pave the way for Ugarte’s move to Old Trafford.
Manchester United can take advantage
Missing out on Neves would be a disappointment for United, but it is important that the club’s transfer chiefs are planning ahead.
Heading into the new season without midfield reinforcements would be a disaster and Ugarte is a cheaper option than Neves who still ticks all the relevant boxes.
If a cut-price deal is available following Neves’ move to Paris then United must be ready to pounce.
