Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are now reportedly facing competition from Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United for Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella.
Earlier this month, Newcastle United were linked with Marc Cucurella, and now Manchester United have joined the race for the Chelsea left-back.
On August 14, The Telegraph reported that Newcastle want to sign Cucurella from Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
The report claimed that the Magpies reportedly believe that the 25-year-old Spain international left-back “would like to make the move” to St. James’ Park in the summer transfer window”.

The Telegraph claimed that Newcastle are also looking at Kieran Tierney, but the Scotland international left-back is now reportedly on his way to Real Sociedad from Arsenal.
However, Newcastle are facing competition from Manchester United for Cucurella in the final days of the summer transfer window.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have made contact with Chelsea and are trying to sign Cucurella.
The Italian journalist has reported on Twitter that the Red Devils are looking for a new left-back and want to bring the £175,000-a-week (Spotrac) Cucurella to Old Trafford on a loan deal.
While Newcastle are a big club who will play in the UEFA Champions League this season, Manchester United are one of the biggest and most successful clubs in the world.
They are a global brand.
We believe that a move to Old Trafford would be more appealing to Cucurella than a transfer to St. James’ Park even on a loan deal.
Cucurella has made 59 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
The left-back has scored one goal, given three assists, and kept 12 clean sheets in those games.
