Manchester United attacking midfielder Jesse Lingard prefers a move to Newcastle United to joining West Ham United in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun.

Jesse Lingard prefers Newcastle to West Ham

The report in the British tabloid has claimed that West Ham and Newcastle want to sign the Manchester United player, who can also operate as a winger.

The 29-year-old will become a free agent at the end of the season.

According to the report, Lingard is waiting for a call for incoming Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag to see if he will get a new deal.

If Lingard does leave the Red Devils, then he would prefer a move to Newcastle to a transfer to West Ham because it would give the £80,000-a-week midfielder (SalarySport) the chance to stay close to his family in the North West.

Encouraging for Magpies

In our view, Lingard preferring Newcastle to West Ham is a boost for the Magpies.

We know that the attacking midfielder was a success during his loan spell at West Ham last season.

Lingard helped the Hammers get into the Europa League.

West Ham could end up in Europe again next season, but the Manchester United player still preferring Newcastle shows the pulling power of the Magpies.
