Manchester United’s search for a new goalkeeper could take them to a former Aston Villa man with Benjamin Siegrist believed to be a target.
David De Gea has fared well this season but Dean Henderson’s future is a little uncertain ahead of the summer window.
That means United may look to bring in another goalkeeper and allow Henderson to move on, but few could have anticipated Siegrist being a target.
The Sun claim that United fancy Siegrist though, with his contract at Dundee United expiring this summer.

There is a link there already; United’s goalkeeping coach Tony Coton worked with Siegrist at Aston Villa and may fancy reuniting.
The Swiss stopper has excelled in Scotland, with pundit Chris Sutton hailing him as ‘brilliant’ for his displays with Dundee United.
Yet even as cheap backup, Siegrist seems like a strange target for United especially given his history at Aston Villa.
Siegrist was plucked from FC Basel in 2009, joining Villa as a hot prospect for the future at just 17.
Siegrist spend even years with Villa but never played a single first-team game, with low-key loans to Burton Albion, Cambridge United, Solihull Moors and Wycombe Wanderers taking place.
Villa sold Siegrist to Vaduz for just £210,000 in 2016, where he played just 37 times in two seasons.
It’s only since joining Dundee United in 2018 that Siegrist has really kicked on, becoming something of a late bloomer.
Some at Villa Park may be left stunned if Siegrist joins United, but he has shown rapid progress in recent years and may now be ready for a shock Premier League return.
United would be a very lofty move, but one that Seigrist will surely jump at should it become possible this summer.
