Manchester City want Raphael Guerreiro amid conflicting claims about their interest in West Ham United target Borna Sosa.

City have sold backup left back Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal, leaving themselves short of a naturally left-footed option there.

Joao Cancelo is top quality but is naturally right-footed, so a replacement for Zinchenko is absolutely needed.

Marc Cucurella was wanted but he has joined Chelsea instead, meaning City need to look at alternative left back targets.

Manchester City want Raphael Guerreiro

Sky Sports now report that City are keen on signing Borussia Dortmund left back Raphael Guerreiro.

It’s stated that the Portugal international is one of a number of options City are considering at left back.

Guerreiro, 28, went to the famed Clairefontaine academy before coming through the Caen ranks.

After shining at Lorient, Borussia Dortmund swooped in and took Guerreiro to Germany in 2016.

Guerriero has now racked up 190 appearances for Dortmund, chipping in with a very decent 34 goals along the way.

Add in 56 caps for Portugal and Guerreiro has great experience, whilst his ability to play in midfield too means Pep Guardiola may fancy him playing in a narrow full back role, as we often see from City.

Guerreiro is just one option for City but confusion surrounds any interest in signing Borna Sosa.

Sky’s report suggests that one source believes City are looking into signing Sossa, whilst another source indicated that Sosa isn’t on the radar.

Stuttgart ace Sosa is a superb attacking threat and has become one of the most dangerous crossers in the Bundesliga.

There are conflicting noises on City’s interest in Sosa and West Ham will just be hoping they stay away.

Croatian news outlet Index report that Sosa is very close to joining West Ham in a £17million move, with Newcastle United also interested.

A move to City may be more appealing should a hijack attempt materialise, but it sounds like Guardiola’s men are more interested in Guerreiro right now.
