Manchester City hope to sign Liverpool target Erling Haaland – because he could end up signing a boot deal with their kit supplier, Puma.
That’s according to The Daily Star, who claim that City are pinning their hopes on Haaland choosing a boot deal with Puma.
Puma manufacture City’s kits having agreed a huge 10-year deal in 2019, replacing Nike. The deal City struck was worth a staggering £650million.
Puma are now hoping to land Haaland as their new brand star, and are offering him £50million over four years to ditch Nike – just like City.
City stars Kyle Walker, Ederson, Oleksandr Zinchenko and even boss Pep Guardiola all have individual deals with Puma.
Haaland picking Puma as his new brand could give City something of a weapon in the race for the striker, whose father Alf Inge played for City between 2000 and 2003.
City could have upper hand over Liverpool in Haaland race
90Min reported in September that Liverpool had held talks with agent Mino Raiola in the hope of teeing up a move for Haaland.

There is so much competition for Haaland though. The Norwegian can leave for less than £70million next year thanks to a release clause in his deal.
Liverpool would no doubt love to have Haaland leading their attack, even if Jurgen Klopp loves Diogo Jota.
Yet with City now seemingly believing that Puma can help them land Haaland, Liverpool could be left disappointed.
Competed with City’s spending power can be difficult, but when a manufacturer can help them too, Liverpool staff may feel like banging their heads against the wall.
