Liverpool have spoken to super-agent Mino Raiola about a potential move for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland amid fierce competition.

That’s according to 90Min, who claim that Europe’s elite are now queueing up to try and sign Haaland in 2022.

A release clause in his Dortmund deal can be activated from the start of next year. As per the terms of that clause, Haaland can move for less than £70million.

Liverpool have allegedly spoken to agent Raiola to register their interest in a possible deal.

Liverpool do love signing players with backgrounds in the Red Bull system. Ibrahima Konate, Naby Keita, Takumi Minamino and Sadio Mane have all played for at least one Red Bull club.

Haaland starred for Red Bull Salzburg and fits the bill for Liverpool – but there is immense competition.

Haaland loves Liverpool star Van Dijk

A move to Liverpool would see Haaland play alongside Reds defender Virgil van Dijk.

Haaland spoke about Van Dijk only earlier this month. The Norwegian international suggested that Van Dijk is the best defender in the world, raving about him.

Playing with Van Dijk may be appealing to Haaland, knowing he would have a solid defence behind him.

It also couldn’t hurt knowing that he wouldn’t have to face Van Dijk any time soon…

Haaland would bring plenty of goals to Anfield

Liverpool fans want a big attacking addition in the near future, and Haaland would absolutely tick that box.

The 21-year-old’s goalscoring record is frankly ridiculous. In four league games this season, he already has five goals and three assists.

In 28 league games last term, he smashed 27 goals and six assists. Even in the Champions League he couldn’t be stopped, hitting 10 goals in eight games.

Haaland is, for lack of a better phrase, a machine. He is deadly in front of goal and looks destined to win Ballon d’Or trophies in the future.

If Liverpool have a real shot at signing Haaland, they simply have to pursue it.
