Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has told the club’s official website that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been exceptional over the past few years,

Guardiola has said that his Manchester City side and Klopp’s Liverpool have been out of this world for the past few years.

Liverpool and City have been the two outstanding teams in the Premier League for the past four seasons.

The Reds and the Citizens have been competing hard against each other for the past four years.

Guardiola told City’s official website: “Now it’s Chelsea this season but that’s because Liverpool and Manchester City were exceptional, not because the others were doing wrong.

“United was close I remember one year with Mourinho and last season especially with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, they were really good but we were exceptional.

“What Liverpool and Manchester City has done in last three or four years has never before been seen before in this country, never ever.

“Now it’s more than 90 points [needed] to be champions, before it was 78, 80, 82, 86, 87. I think Antonio Conte with Chelsea started it a little bit when they won the league in my first season here but after, Liverpool and City made a step [forward].

“And I think they did well the other opponents – Chelsea, United, Tottenham – but Liverpool and City were out of this world.”

Can Liverpool and Chelsea catch Manchester City?

Guardiola made the aforementioned comments before City’s match against Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Citizens won 1-0.

It now appears that City are going to run away with the Premier League title.

However, Liverpool have two games in hand.

That could make a difference.

Moreover, City have lost two Premier League matches already this season.

So, in our view, the defending Premier League champions could lose again this campaign.

Okay, City do not look like they are going to lose or even draw a game now, but you just never know.

We think that there is still a chance that Liverpool and Chelsea could catch City, especially the Reds.

City are top with 56 points from 22 matches, while Chelsea are second with 43 points.

Liverpool have picked up 42 points from 20 matches.
