Arsenal are reportedly looking to sign Juventus defender Gleison Bremer this summer in a possible player-plus-cash deal – a player that Torino manager Ivan Juric claims is better than Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero.

Bremer, 25, left Juric’s Torino last summer after clocking up 110 games for the Serie A side. He remained in Turin, joining Juventus. Since then, he has impressed for the Old Lady, becoming a regular in Max Allegri’s back three.

CMW claim that Arsenal want to sign Bremer in the summer. Juve’s points deduction has ended any hope they had of Champions League qualification. Their finances may force the Old Lady to sell a few players come the summer.

Bremer is likely to be one that generates interest. Rated at £44m, Arsenal want a deal worth £27m plus Takehiro Tomiyasu – and what a signing he would be. Especially, if Torino boss Juric’s comments are to be believed.

Juric has worked with both Romero and Bremer – and he said: “I think he’s the best defender I’ve ever coached and I’ve worked with some good ones such as Romero,” Juric said – as per Football Italia. “Bremer is spectacular.”

Arsenal looking to sign Bremer: Juric claims he is better than Romero

There are not many positioned better to make the comparison between Bremer and Spurs’ World Cup winner. What Romero would argue, is that he worked under Juric back in 2018 at Genoa. He has come on leaps and bounds since.

Romero is arguably one of the best central defenders in the Premier League and seems to be getting better with every minute he plays under Antonio Conte. But, if Bremer is on a par with Romero – or better – Arsenal must move.

Gabriel and William Saliba have formed a decent partnership in defence, but they are capable of the odd mistake. Bringing in a player like Bremer, who is unbeatable in the air but quick in defence too – it solidified that defence.
