Rodrigo Gomes is ‘calm’ despite the speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League as Wolves keep tabs on the Braga-owned Estoril loanee.
That is according to Victor Seabra, Estoril’s head coach confronted with questions about the future of his much-coveted star man.
Rodrigo Gomes’ agent confirmed earlier in January that Wolverhampton Wanderers were ‘showing an interest’ in the Portugal under 21 international.
But Estoril supporters can sleep a little easier for the time being. HITC Football understands that, while Wolves do like the versatile wideman, they are unlikely to submit any formal offers until the summer window.
And that is music to Seabra’s ears, Gomes in the midst of a ‘fantastic season’ on loan from parent club Braga.

Wolves eye Braga winger Rodrigo Gomes
“He’s very happy here. I feel like he’s very happy to be with us,” Seabra tells O Jogo, Gomes’ loan spell at Estoril set to run until the end of the current campaign.
“I spoke to him about it (the rumours). He’s calm. He’s having a fantastic season. At the end of the season, he’ll have lots of offers.
“But, until then, let’s enjoy him.”
Gomes has certainly given the Estoril fans plenty of reason to ‘enjoy’ his presence on the wing under Seabra. The youngster has produced six goals and six assists in 20 games. And, while Gomes is comfortable on the left, his best performances have come on the right.
Gomes, in truth, a bit of a throwback. A right-footed, right winger who loves to put his speed and technical ability to very good use while making dangerous runs into the penalty area.
There are undoubted similarities with Pedro Neto, another Iberian talent currently plying his trade at Molineux.

“Wolves are one of the many clubs who contacted me from the five major European leagues,” Gomes’ agent Marcelo Cipriano tells Record, La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga sides also reportedly hot on Gomes’ heals.
“(Wolves are) showing interest in Rodrigo. But I believe it’s no surprise considering the excellent season he is having. The important thing at this moment is for Rodrigo to be calm. (He must) continue doing what he has been doing on the field. This way, at the end of the season, there will be no shortage of proposals from good European clubs!”
“I believe that proposals will arrive for Rodrigo Gomes.”
HITC has also been informed that Wolves are eyeing Ajax’s former Tottenham Hotspur winger Steven Bergwijn and Ecuadorian midfielder Oscar Zambrano. A striker is also high on Gary O’Neil’s wishlist.
