Partick Thistle manager Ian McCall was delighted to land Rangers winger Jake Hastie on loan at the start of the week and the Jags boss has thrown the gauntlet down to the former Scotland under-21 star and challenged him to “show everyone the player he can be.”
Hastie has struggled to make any real impact at Ibrox since moving from Motherwell, with loan stints at Rotherham and Fir Park doing little to help his cause.
McCall, who had a stint playing for the Gers himself, praised Rangers for letting him take Hastie on loan until January as he pushed him to replicate the form that won him a dream move to Ibrox to begin with.
“Rangers have been fantastic with us in allowing us to take Jake on loan,” McCall said. “My job now is to give him the confidence to go out and show everyone the player he can be, the one who lit up the Scottish Premiership and scored goals at that level.
“Jake gives us another option of serious pace in the team from middle to front, along with Scott Tiffoney. I simply want Jake to go out and enjoy playing football with Partick Thistle – with one caveat, that he’ll need to work hard to get into this team.”
Hastie could make his Partick debut this weekend when the Jags face Arbroath in the cinch Championship.

The winger spent much of the summer with the Rangers B team so it seems as though his days at Ibrox are numbered,
An impressive spell on loan at Thistle could help win him a move elsewhere though and it’s vital at this stage of his career that he plays regularly.
