Manchester City are reportedly willing to increase their offer for RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol to €130m (£110m), with Tottenham also interested in signing the centre-back.
According to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Pep Guardiola’s side are ready to break the bank to sign the Croatian international in January, with Gvardiol now a key target for City after his performances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The 20-year-old established himself as one of the defenders of the tournament and has now amounted a huge following from interested clubs, though City now seem to be leading the race to sign Gvardiol ahead of the likes of Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea.
And now, City are ready to go above and beyond to sign the World Cup semi-finalist in January, with the Premier League champions willing to spend as much as £110m in transfer fees to land Gvardiol, breaking the club’s record fee on Jack Grealish and smashing the world record spent on a defender.

Indeed, Gvardiol was regarded even before the World Cup started as one of the best young talents in Europe, and City are now ready to pull out all the stops to bring the Croatian superstar to the Etihad Stadium, which would be quite the statement transfer.
With Erling Haaland already on their books and Jude Bellingham a reported target, City are building for the future in a manner only seen on FIFA Career Mode’s, and for Guardiola, capturing Gvardiol could secure success for the Manchester side for many years to come.
City signing Gvardiol would be a hammer blow to Premier League rivals

City’s monopolising of the top European talents has taken a big step in recent months, and for many Premier League clubs, Gvardiol heading the blue side of Manchester would be a huge blow given just how good the defender is and how terrifying Guardiola’s squad could be in the years to come.
With Haaland leading the line, Bellingham potentially controlling the midfield and Gvardiol marshalling the defence, City have the perfect spine to both dominate football now and for many seasons in the future, with the trio arguably the best in their positions in their current age group.
