Mikel John Obi has given his verdict on Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku.

The former Chelsea star has shared why he is looking forward to watching Nkunku in action for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

So, what has Mikel John Obi said about Chelsea player Christopher Nkunku? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, according to Mikel John Obi, Christopher Nkunku is going to be a star for Chelsea.

Mikel has said that he cannot wait for Nkunku to return to action for Chelsea.

The 26-year-old attacker suffered a serious knee injury in the pre-season friendly match between Chelsea and RB Leipzig.

Nkunku is on the sidelines at the moment and could be back after the international break.

Chelsea paid RB Leipzig £52 million in transfer fees in the summer of 2023 to sign the France international forward (Sky Sports).

Mikel John Obi said about Nkunku on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel: “Looking at the way we played in pre-season, he was the guy, wasn’t he?

“He was the guy who was making everything happen, and then he got injured. We can’t wait to have him back. I personally can’t wait to have him back.”

Christopher Nkunku could star for Chelsea

In my view, Christopher Nkunku could be a superstar for Chelsea. Like Mikel John Obi, I cannot wait for Nkunku to start playing for Chelsea.

Nkunku is a very good and promising player whose best years are ahead of him. The 26-year-old is a versatile footballer who can operate as an attacking midfielder, second striker and forward.

The 26-year-old scored 16 goals and gave four assists in 20 Bundesliga starts last season. In 2021-22, the forward scored 20 goals and provided 13 assists in those games.

Now, of course, we have to give Nkunku some time to get used to the Premier League and to fully get his match fitness back after his injury.

But, I believe that the forward could star for Chelsea in years to come.
